I am a 24yo female and am having finace troubles. I am married and have a good job but….I was off wrok longer than expected after I had my son and got behind on bills. My question is how does personal loans work? I have a mortage and have only made 1 late payment but my credit score sucks due to late credit card payments which I pd one off. I was wondering if there was a chance I could get a loan for about $5,000.00? I have 2 diffrent banks I bank at one is just my checking and saving s and one holds the loan to my house. Which one should I go to?

I have started doing a little bit of research regarding handling debt consolidation yourself. I am only 23 and was starting to consider bankruptcy but that is just not something that I want to do. Quite a few resources I have read say to stop paying on your credit cards for a few months. Then at that point they may send you settlement offers which is a great opportunity for you to negotiate. I am looking for advice from people that have taken on their own debt and were successful. Thank you the advice!
I have gotten a lot of great responses so far and thank you for those. But some of you people my god, shut up. I am trying to find helpful advice not the bs advice just so you get points for answering. Honestly, if you don’t have anything nice to say then answer someone elses question. I owe less then 5,000 in debt. I do work hard and I try my best to save money. I am not a bad person for falling on some hard times, I am just human.

I’ve made some stupid mistakes, and racked up $3300 in credit card debt. I’m not getting anywhere. I’m paying a car loan, plus 2 repayments of $100 a week on each card to try and keep my head above water and I’m sinking fast. I’m thinking of getting a personal loan from my bank (that my car loan is through) to cover the credit card debt, as I would only then have to worry about the car repayment and the personal loan repayment, and would be able to save more money that way (car service, rego, new tyres due soon) because I’m not getting anywhere doing what I’m doing. And the interest rate on a personal loan is 12% which is lower than the credit cards. I think I would feel less stress about paying 2 set amounts, than 3 and trying to survive on what’s left. What do you think? And opinions on this?
I have looked into 0% credit cards for balance transfers, but they only offer that for 6 months and after that time you pay big interest, and I want to get away from credit cards altogether.
I had thought about a part time job, but they are hard to come by here, and the hours I work in my full time job are all over the place, so finding a part time job that would fit in with the hours I already work would be very difficult. Trust me I’ve looked into that option!

I have several personal loans out. My monthly payments add up to about 800 a month, i only make a 1000. I’m not behind on payments but i cant keep up much longer. I cant seem to get any local banks to even listen to me. They also ping my credit report every single time i tried to get a loan so now i have even more negativity on my report. I can afford 300 a month or less to pay on a consolidation loan. Anyone know a loan company or debt consolidation company that will actually listen to me and not just look at my credit score?
I make 200 a week, thats good pay for my area. I dont have a single credit card. Never have.

I want to give my son a prepaid charge card. I do not expect him to use the card except in a dire emergency. I do not mind paying an upfront fee, but I do not want the monthly fees to eat up the balance when the card is sitting and collecting dust. Any thoughts? Thanks

I am looking for a charge card or credit card that offers benefits that exceed 1% back on regular purchases and 3% back on gas and grocery. Annual fee is OK – I am not interested in airline miles – just CASH BACK options. Any suggestions?

I recently opened a charge card at a jewelry store. Lets say legal name is “Zachary Middlename Lastname”, but the statement and credit card i received have the name “Larry Last-Initial Middlename”. Do I have to pay them? Can I fight this somehow, since when I signed to open the credit card I WAS NEVER ASKED TO VERIFY THAT ALL THE INFORMATION was correct, like at most stores. Did I sign a legal contract?

rates double in the last couple of months. I do not have visa, master cards, no charge cards, daughter and son in law does….couple of friends, the rates doubled…if your credit card interest rates doubled what are you going to do? My daughter complained to the bank, they dropped the rates she can no longer use the card which is great, but some friends claimed theirs went to 32% OUCH.
