I have saved up a bit of money to go with but don’t want to take it all in cash for obvious reasons, I have heard of certain cards from travel agents (co-op travel) which do a card you can put money on and use in stores and withdraw cash from. Are they any good? I’ve also heard of banks doing a similar type of card?

Just want anyones opinion whos used them before or a different method.

    Thanks

I regularly ship gifts and items to my boyfriend in Spain from US. The taxes are usually high, but last time he paid so much it was ridiculous. I’m sure its because I’m filling the form out wrong. I know there are ways to fill out the customs forms to pay less (e.g. – value less than 22 euros, etc). Whats the best way to fill out this form so that we don’t have to pay so much in taxes.

What will happen if I just throw it away without activating it?

So I bought two items on ebay using the paypal method. Since my paypal is linked to my credit card, the money is coming (directly?) from my credit card.

all I care about are the ITEMS. WILL THE ITEMS SHOW?

on the paypal website, in the details of the transaction, it shows what items I bought…that’s why I’m skeptical of whether this list of items will appear on either the paypal or the credit card bill.

I am 22 and looking to apply for my very first credit card. I don’t have very good credit since I’ve tried applying for store cards before and they’re always declined. • Joshua says:

Okay, so I was planning on signing up for my first credit card. I am currently a student in college, and so I plan on applying for a student card. The first thing I would like to know is, because I have a part time job and earn an income, am I more likely to get approved for the credit card? I do have bills that I pay on a monthly basis, however I have a system worked out with my dad where I pay him the total amount I owe for various things (gym membership, phone bill, car insurance, etc..) so I don’t know if the credit card company will see those payments that I make.

But moreover, I was curious as to what would be the best method of handling my credit card. I was thinking that every purchase that I make in a month will go the credit card, but I pay off the balance every two weeks when I get my paycheck. So for example in a two week time frame I probably spend about $25 on gas, $25 on food, and throw in another $30 for random purchases here and there. So that’s $80 in two weeks, but as soon as I get my paycheck, I pay that $80 off. I understand those amounts that I said I spend are just estimates, but you get the idea. Is that a good way of managing my card. Will this be an effective way to boost my credit?

Hello im looking to go to Las Vegas with a friend and most hotels i look up could be around 250 dollars for 7 nights but then it says theres a fee like this eg. (The hotel requires a $100 per stay deposit in addition to the room rate, daily resort charges and applicable taxes. The hold will be released 3-10 business days after departure depending on the credit card issuers processing speed. If you’re using a debit card as a method of payment your primary account will be charged the full amount and the funds will not be available to you through your debit/check card for up to 3-10 business days. The Riviera is not responsible for overdrafts/fees associated with your credit/debit card.)

Im just wondering does that mean 100 dollars per night on top of the actual payment or just one payment of 100 dollars?

    Thanks! :)

I have about 20k in credit card balances across 3-4 cards. I want to close those and transfer the balances or pay them off with a new line. I doubt I can qualify for a 20k line of credit right now because of the conditions. What is my best alternative to making this happen, does anyone know?

can someone make as many suggestions as possible as to what options i have and any ideas on reducing the balances, etc.

I am also curious, is there not a way to ‘close the account’ and negotatiate a pay off method with the credit card company directly ? just curious.

i used to have a 20k line for business from wells fargo, never late, never did anything wrong. paid my balance off in one clean sweep one day and 3 weeks later they reduced my credit down to 5 k, so for the business and business purchasing needs i was never able to continue without resorting to multiple smaller cards, i want to consolidate , without doing the typical consolidating scenario as those companies are rip offs.

can anyone make any suggestions on reducing these balances, or paying them off, or another company that is giving good credit right now , or any other ideas.

I’ve had cards before, so I know how they work, but they were in my dad’s name. Any suggestions would be nice but I’m not looking for criticism- I want to build credit and have an alternate method of paying for things, especially gas and entertainment. Thanks in advance!

  • Colton says:

I live in Tokyo, Japan and those people who are interested in Platinumu or higher credit cards and their incidental privileges are very fascinated them here.

Perhaps, I am one of them.

The people’s like me’s purpose of having Platinum or higher credit cards, is to express shop/hotel/ restaurant cashers their social status and finiancial confidence, not a payment method. The purpouse is to keep the high credit limit cards (at least $US111,346.17-) in their wallet at all the time for self satisfication.

In the States, the system of credit score is running is known to me and the Japanese credit organisations are considering the introduction of similar or same system as well as the States does. However, the system introduction is postponed due to popularity of the cash-on-delivery and cash-account among people of Japan. In local areas far away from big cities such as Tokyo and Osaka, credit cards are not welcomed and even some shop keepers do not know what credit card is. I was asked before, “hey, what is this plastic card for? Pay by Visa? What do you mean?”

So how many cards a person has, is not a big matter and no damage to the credit score in Japan.

I also tell you that the credit cards people have in Japan, is mainly so-called “charge cards” in the States. All the debt or payment is cleared monthly through their banks, therefore, no interest is charged. They including me have to pay only the total monthly amount they buy things with their cards.

Recently I asked relating questions before, but replies I have received are
    out of my expectations.

I know people have different ideas, and the credit card circumstances and payment practices are different depending on countries.

Although specific credit cards such as Diners Club Premium (issued by Citi Card Japan), are only allowed to own by the people who are chosen specially by the card companies, it is true. Those lucky (?) people are judged as high in financial confidence (at least annual US$55,673.09- salary with having a job title for over 10-year continuous service in the 1st class company and over age of 33 years old owing his/her own house), social status, elite, or extremely rich by the card issuers.

My question is, “do specific credit cards function as a status symbol, prestige, or an evidence of high social rank person in your country?”

I have those cards listed below. Some people say you are stupid and wasting your money to me.

The numbers next to the card names are 1) annual membership fees and 2) my credit limit.

These cards are only allowed to own by people who are especially selected as the best card user by companies after a card-up-grade invitation letter from the issuers.

    1) Citi Visa Platinum Card / 1) US$584.57- 2)US$55,673.09-

In college i had a credit card that was in my name, but my parents paid it off every month. B/c of them, i have established very good credit. But now i’m in the real world and i need a real credit card that i pay off. But points vs. cash back, and all of the other options are making my head spin. Is there really going to be THAT big of a difference considering i’m not spending huge amounts of money? Any information is appreciated

    Hi there,

Quick question…For building credit, is there a difference between student credit cards and regular credit cards? Because I’m gonna apply for a new credit card, and I wanted to see if I should choose the college credit card or a regular one….or if it even matter in terms of building credit. Thanks.

Wireless credit card terminals continue to gain popularity among small and large businesses.Historically, mobile credit card terminals have developed hand in hand with all the advances of the cell phones industry. In short, wireless credit card terminals (or virtual credit card terminals) offer the merchants very convenient way to accept debit or credit card payments outside of the office, warehouse or any other place of business. In addition, recent developments and technology made it possible to have the wireless credit card terminals only without any need to install a regular stationary “point of sale”.So the only things a merchant needs are the smart phone and a wireless credit card terminal.

I’ve had the same account on amazon for a while now, & I’ve only ever added 1 credit card as a payment method, & I’ve ordered tons of things on it. But now, when I logged into my account again, it says that there are no payment options associated with my account! How can this be? I don’t know where the credit card is & it’s going to take me ages to find, & that’s the only card I have that I’d put on the internet. What should I do, is there a way to retrive the card # through my email? I recently cleaned out my inbox though… What should I do, & why isn’t my credit card number saved on amazon anymore? Thanksx.

(I put it in this section b.c I doubt anyone goes in the recommended cat’s for this question, & I’m pretty sure most of you have ordered things off amazon before.)
Also, when I check my previous orders I made from now to 6 months ago, it says I haven’t made any orders, which is not true!
I am logged in, & the card doesn’t expire for a long time! :'(

  • Louisa says:

    I’m in a bit of a problem.

My debit card expired a month ago, and so I thought no one could charge me with online services. Specifically, I had the card registered to my Spotify account, but as it’s expired, I thought I could click around without any fear of being charged. I accidently purchased a bundle of ‘downloads’ for £50, meaning that I can download 100 songs within the next month. This was totally unintentional, and I don’t even have a payment method! Will they have some sort of “outstanding charge” on my account or what? I’m not sure whether it’s now too later and I should just use the downloads, or to wait and see what happens :S

    Help please
LiberryAnn there’s no need to be so harsh on me. I made a genuine mistake, have contacted the company, and have not used the service I purchased.

There is also a 14-day “cool-down period” in which Spotify say I can cancel my purchase, and I’ve emailed them to take up this cancellation offer, but I’m unsure what’s going to happen.

So my parents failed raising me as a child, now I’m a 19 year old male working part time at college and I have no idea what credit is, how I get a credit card, what APR and all that stuff is.

My idea behind it was originally, I apply for a credit card, get one, am able to purchase things with said credit card then pay back over time. But I don’t understand what a credit score is, nor what good/bad credit score mean.
    From ebiznus

“You just twisted 16 and you are feeling very super concerning yourself. You just get your drivers certify and with the lend a hand of your parents you just purchased your foremost car and you are gifted to go chairs and do things on your own with the intention of you were never talented to do as a 15 year old. You have the freedom to drive physically to parties, educate dance, and high school football sports competition and to drive your date to the movies or to the beach.”

Now I read through that first paragraph and am immediatley discounting that post. I refuse to take advice from something with little to no English grammar or vocabulary skills.

I am planning on traveling to Brazil, by myself to study…I only speak some basic Portugues and you hear all of these horror stories of everyone getting robbed!

I plan on getting 2 money belts, 1 real looking belt with inside seam zipper, and also a Leg money belt to contain my passport and credit card.

I mean if I get robbed at some point of my debit card which will have most if not all of my money in it since I’m not carrying around wads of cash with me what do I do??

Should I bring 2 debit cards…I have about 3 of them, I guess I could bring all of them

Put half of my money onto the visa, the other half onto my mastercard, and also bring my 3rd card for emergency…maybe put like $100 on it for cab ride or just to store somewhere if my other 2 get lost/stolen my family can transfer money to the account

Hi, can anyone tell me. How does balance transfer work. Say, I have a cc for $750. I have paid $350 so far. Now have a 400 bal. ( on old card)
now, new cradit card offer 0% transfer.

if I transfer, will they also give me a credit card limit too.

basically, I liked they credit card and wanted to get one anyway. so since they sent they balance transfer offer. are both included( credit limit and the transfer) at first, I was under the empression that I can ( only) do the balance transfer thing. but it said something about the limit most people usually get is $4000. In addition, I didn’t want to loose my cash on my old credit card does that roll over too. I need help community. thanks

A family member suggested I get a secured credit card to help build credit for myself. I figured this was a good idea, however, upon looking USAA also has a student credit card. Which one would be a wiser idea for a 18 YO college student to apply for and use for small purchases (I was thinking of just using it to buy gas or occasional groceries)?

For reference, here is the student card:
    https://www.usaa.com/inet/pages/banking_credit_cards_main?wa_ref=pri_global_products_bank_cc
here is the secured CD card:
    https://www.usaa.com/inet/pages/banking_credit_cards_secured_credit_card

I should note I have no credit, and haven’t applied to either yet.
Thanks for the detailed answers, all! Going to go for the secured card, and use it through community college then advance to an unsecured card!

I recently received a job offer in another state and I need some up front cash to pay for a deposit and first months rent for a place since I am right out of school. I tried to obtain a small personal loan from several banks but they would not let me get one even though i have an excellent credit rating and my family can not help me out and the company can not provide relocation assistance.

My question is what is the process for getting a cash advance from a bank (not an ATM). I don’t have a PIN number so I can’t use the ATM so I need to go into the bank plus I have a larger cash advance line if I do it in the bank. Do i just go into the branch and tell the teller that I need an advance off my credit card?

I know the pitfalls of cash advances but it is my only way of getting money for a place. I have already went through a budget and I can have the credit card bill paid off within two months at the latest.
