I live in a small apartment in San Francisco. There is one tiny East-facing window in my bedroom, and I can’t leave it open during the day because I live in the ghetto. All the other residents in the building are old, and like it warm and dry, so that’s what the room is like 24/7. But I’m used to having lots of nice green plants around, so I want to build an indoor greenhouse to grow plants. Note: I don’t want to grow pot, just interesting, colorful tropical plants, so suggestions for the bomb-ass high-yield hydroponic equipment doesn’t help me. What is the most cost-effective way to do this? I need to build a set-up in which I can maintain high humidity, good ventilation, and lights, without trashing the environment or my wallet (I’m willing to invest some money and a lot of time :) I’d also like to have a separate section for cacti. What can I say, I grew up with a big garden in San Diego in which you could grow anything, so I’m spoiled.

I have checked various web sites searching for info on obtaining a visitors visa to the UK. Can anyone tell me the most reliable source and the most cost effective. I do not understand the varied differences in price.
I am from the USA. I was refused entry into the UK on the 26th of Oct because I was deemed a risk to the local economy…..so
next I was advised by an immigrations official to get a visitors visa into the UK to avoid being refused entry a 2nd time even though I can prove employment, income and intent to return this time. Intended to return last time as well but that is not what the snooty immigrations representative thought.

Hi. I’m fourteen and my family is going on vacation soon so i thought I might try individual false eyelashes for the two weeks we will be there for a little extra pop. Anyway, on a lot of the how-tos and such, they say to apply the individual false eyelashes first, and then put mascara on your lashes and the false ones to blend them together and help them look more natural. I do wear mascara and I want these to look as natural as possible (hence individuals instead of strip lashes). My question is, will the false eyelashes come off when I take my makeup and mascara off with makeup remover and then wash my face at night? How long will they last? And also, should I wear mascara with them? I’ve heard both ways. I want falsies to last as long as possible. Thanks in advance!

Do you do what other people do? Are you your own person?

Do you wear clothes like other people?
Do you have a guilty pleasure?

Plus, what is the line between being a freak and being an individual?

I am 20 years old and on my step-father’s insurance plan. However, he seems to change jobs every 6 months so I CONSTANTLY either a) have no current insurance, or b) am in a waiting period so I cannot receive services.

I know nothing about insurance but would it be reasonable for me to get on an individual plan for myself? Although that’s not what I would like to do ideally, I’m sick of not being able to go to the doctor or get yearly dental cleanings. I also need to go to an Orthodontist which I know often isn’t covered by insurance, but I could deal with that when the time comes.

I’m a student and I don’t have a job with benefits so what exactly would be the best option to look into?

It’s interesting, no matter what our problems are we almost always think they’re exclusive to us: being overweight, feeling unattractive, not achieving enough… Whatever. But realistically millions & millions of people suffer the same problems, lead similar lives, have similar thoughts… Are we really individuals?

  • Art says:

People change. People have changed. People will change. People are changing. Always.

Do your thoughts define you? Thoughts change.
Do your actions define you? Actions change as well.

Is there even such a thing as an individual?

Please do not throw the drug jokes at me. This question has serious implications, regardless of your opinion.
thewolfskoll: Those individuals could be defined (or not) by other aspects. Hitler was not all bad, Mother Theresa was not all good… we just like to think of them that way because their most noteworthy actions are such in our minds. Furthermore, both had the ability to change, but both died.
bluebootz: You speak of how the individual does not exist in ultimate reality with the words “of course.” However, this is not something understood by very many…
lasuremartin: In the way we usually think of things, yes, an individual’s thoughts and actions do define him. If I’m trying to answer a different question or get at a different point, I’m not going to go off about how there is no such thing as the individual. That is the purpose of THIS question…

You may be part of a collective whether you know it or not…

I’m currently completing my Paralegal Studies Degree at my local community college..unfortunately, I missed the deadline to sign up for my classes this semester, and I really don’t want to fall behind..so I was considering taking some online courses at Penn Foster until I can start at my community college again next semester. My question is though, do they offer individual courses? I don’t want to enroll in the complete program..I just want to take a few specific paralegal classes that I can transfer to my local college next semester. Thanks so much!

P.S. Is Penn Foster a legit online school, or am I wasting my time?

  • Rolland says:

Just a question…I know according to the theory of evolution, individuals don’t evolve. Only populations evolve, over time, through natural selection. But natural selection tends to cause very small changes (like beak size, in the finches etc.). Wouldn’t there have had to be, at some point, rather large changes in individuals, due to mutations? Like natural selection wouldn’t have caused individuals to have wings, if there was no gene for wings to begin with. There must have been an individual, at some time, who had a mutation which led to the development of wings. Am I correct? That there had to be, at some point, mutations in individuals rather than just populations? Just wondering, thanks!

I’m currently researching Christian churches and am often confused whether or not the church is actually ever given a command. For example, in the Great Commission, Jesus told the eleven disciples to spread the gospel, not the church. It almost seems to me that the individual is the one spreading the gospel and worshiping God. Is it implied that the church should do the commands given to the individual, or am I missing something?
Slim Johnson, never post anything like that again, please.

I guess what I mean is where in the Bible is the purpose of the church defined? I seem to find that the verses given for evidence are directed at individuals, not the church itself.
Okay, thanks for the answers. From my understanding, the definition of the church comes from Ekklesias, meaning assembly or congregation of like-minded people. Thus, if these like-minded people make up the church, the church itself should have the same purpose as the people. I think that’s clear.

I’ve recently become self employed and have a 401k at my old job. I just started doing research on self employed retirement plans like the SEP IRA and individual 401k. I found some good information about them here http://www.individual401k.com

From reading information about them the Individual 401k and SEP have the same limits $44,000 but with the individual 401k you might be able to contribute more at “identical income levels”. Here is a quote from their website.

“Compared to other retirement plans you may be able to make greater contributions at identical income levels, therefore maximizing retirement contributions and valuable tax deductions.”

Has anyone else set one of these retirement plans up? Should I setup a SEP IRA instead of an Individual 401k? What are the main things I should be considering when I make my decision?

Thank you for any information you can provide about the SEP IRA or Individual 401k to someone who is self employed.

Uh…how does this sentence make any sense?

How does a species evolve into another species without effecting the individual?

Apes evolved into humans without effecting the individual species. If there is a connection between the ape and the human, then
That would mean that apes gave birth to humans. That is the only way you can say that the individual ape did not evolve, only her species.

Since I’m guessing you don’t believe that apes gave birth to humans, please explain what I’m not understanding here.

And doesn’t all populations consist of individuals? It is true that the population of humans can be affected without affecting me, but it is impossible for the population of humans to be affected without affecting SOME individual somewhere.

This statement is trying to say that populations do not include individuals.

Am am wrong in believing that it’s “an individuals’ right to bla bla bla’ as opposed to individual’s? As far as I was concerned, the latter merely means individual is. On the same note, would it not be ones’ instead of one’s? Or Simons’ book as opposed to Simon’s book..which to my would imply Simon is a book. Any shedding of light on this matter would be appreciated.
It’s any individual, so infact would involve everyone. How about Simon?

What individual muscle can lift more weight, Pectoral or Triceps. From what I know, the Pectoral seems to be flat but wide, whereas the Triceps is thick and and condensed?
No real reason for me asking, just kind of a general knowledge. I know the quads are very strong muscles, and I was wondering I guess which muscle shape is more efficient. Because the muscle that connects your jaw is sort of a thin strip and it is exteremly strong. Just a comparable which muscle in isolation (I know you cant really Isolate them) but which in Isolation has the ability to be the stronger muscle? The Tricep or the Pec?
